Spring festival lovers and art enthusiasts rejoice!
With each new spring season, comes the joyful tradition of feasting, celebration, and artistic appreciation and cultural exchange. From the world’s largest—over 1,500,000 attendees over 23 days—arts festival, The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, in Scotland, to Alpharetta’s annual 2 day Arts Streetfest with its estimated 5000 attendees.
Presenting the fine artwork of over 100 jury selected artists from throughout the U.S., the 5th Alpharetta Arts Streetfest will featuring paintings, photography, mixed media, pottery, jewelry, textiles, wood, metal and paper art in the outdoor galleries, lining the streets of Alpharetta’s Historic District,
New this year . . . the event celebrates Earth Day with the presentation of free creative art projects that teach children how to create imaginative artwork with recycled supplies in the “Art in Action” area hosted by the Alpharetta Recreation and Parks Department.
Additional “Art in Action” activities will include hourly interactive performances of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” as well as artistic and scientific activities sponsored by the Science Academy Mobile Lab. Further opportunities for creative expression will include henna tattoos, balloon art, dog paw art, candy art, ceramic art, sand art, spin art, face painting, Japanese bonsai trees and more.
The 2009 Arts Streetfest will also include numerous cultural arts performances, theater in the park, and musical venues including live jazz, roots rock, acoustical and Celtic music.
Festival feasting will include barbecue, southern and Italian favorites, roasted nuts, fresh lemonade, flavored coffees, ices, ice cream and chocolate delicacies. Also in conjunction with the 2009 Arts Streetfest, the Alpharetta Farmers Market will feature special hours on April 18th from 10am- 2pm. Directions: GA 400 North, exit 9, left on Haynes Bridge Rd. Left on Old Milton Parkway. Right at light onto Main Street and then through light at Milton Avenue. The festival is located in the city park on the left.
