According to the U.S. Census of 2000, Alpharetta’s total land area is 21.4 sq. mi., the population was 34,854 and the average household income was $71,209. In 2008 Alpharetta's population was estimated to have increased to 65,168. Alpharetta is primarily a residential community but it is also a center of business activity in North Fulton County. Approximately 106,000 workers are employed by more than 3,600 businesses within the City of Alpharetta and 77% of the workers are employed in professional, managerial, technical, sales and administrative positions.
Alpharetta’s school age residents are well served by Fulton County’s excellent public school system and the evidence is in the demographic statistics.
