The residential real estate market in Alpharetta consists primarily of single family homes. From 1980 through 2007, the number of housing units in Alpharetta increased from 1,116 to 20,427 and approximately 15,240 of Alpharetta’s housing units are single family homes. According to the U.S. Census in 2000, the average household income in Alpharetta was $71,209. In 2007 the average household income in Alpharetta was estimated at $86,528 and the estimated median house or condominium value was $339,091.

The region extending northeast from Atlanta past Alpharetta is often called the Country Club Corridor because so many golf clubs are located there and real estate values are excellent. Alpharetta contains neighborhoods where first time buyers can find affordable homes, new townhomes within walking distance of Wills Park and downtown Alpharetta, luxury homes on 5-10 acres of land, and master planned communities that offer special amenities to residents such as golf course privileges, tennis courts and swimming pools. Some master planned communities contain single family homes and others are condominium complexes.

One example of a master planned real estate development in Alpharetta is the Manor Golf and Country Club, which features many custom built executive type homes, the only Tom Watson Signature golf course in Georgia, a 32,000 sq. ft. English Tudor style clubhouse with casual and gourmet restaurants, two junior sized Olympic swimming pools, 21 professionally groomed tennis courts and a state of the art fitness center. Another master planned community is Crooked Creek with 640 private homes that are situated on a total of 525 acres of beautiful Alpharetta countryside. Crooked Creek's featured amenity is the 18-hole Michael Riley Championship Golf Course and they also have a 28,000 sq. ft. clubhouse with a members only Champion's Room, a casual dining Trophy Room, the Presidents Room for fine dining, 9 lighted tennis courts, a competition swimming pool, a waterslide with a splash pool, basketball courts and a playground.

Alpharetta’s beautiful countryside provides a sublime setting for luxurious single family homes where the public schools are excellent and a variety of restaurants and upscale shopping opportunities are available locally.
