57th Old Soldiers Day Parade

Become a part of Alpharetta’s annual tribute to all veterans of all wars. Join the more than 10,000 area residents that line Main Street to watch the over 3,000 parade participants marching each August without fail on Old Soldiers Day.
With its roots in the times of the post-Civil War, Alpharetta’s 143-year-old Old Soldiers Day Parade is a living tribute to the great courage All Veterans of All Wars have demonstrated for our country.

Sponsored by the City of Alpharetta and the American Legion Post 201, the Old Soldiers Parade day begins with Alpharetta City Band and a Memorial Service in front of City Hall on Main Street in downtown Alpharetta at 8:45 a.m. A short program with an introduction of featured parade guests will then follow at 9:30 a.m.

The parade begins at 10:15 a.m. with an array of marching military units, Shriners, floats, bands, wagons, and horses. However, the celebration does not end with the parade, the festivities continue at the American Legion Post 201 with free children’s activities and prizes. In addition, Atlanta’s own Varsity restaurant and Coca Cola Co. will provide free hot dogs and soft drinks.

This event often occurs among the hottest days of the year, so bring sunscreen and plenty of water!
