2009 Annual Taste of Alpharetta

Tracing back thousands of years, food celebrations have been a means for people within a community to unite, and the community of Alpharetta proves to be no different—with an expected attendance of 60,000 food loving families and festival-goers the 19th Annual Taste of Alpharetta rain or shine event is the largest “Taste of” festival in the South.

Showcasing over 60 local restaurants, local chefs will be serving up tasty new menu samples including, an array of appetizers, a variety of entrees, BBQ pork sliders, crabmeat cheese rolls, basil chicken, salad, chocolate covered strawberries, a medley of desserts to name just a few of the delicacies.

Pricing for the featured food samples range from $.50 to $3.00 per item, and menu Item Tickets are available on-site on the evening of the Taste, or they can be pre-purchased at Alpharetta City Hall during regular business hours.

The Taste of Alpharetta also features a Culinary Arts and Music State with chef competitions from 5-7pm, followed by live music from 7-10pm. Many festivalgoers spread a blanket and stay for a full night of entertainment in Wills Park.

Several metro Atlanta radio stations will also add to the event entertainment throughout the day. Festival attendees are also invited to vote for their favorite festival restaurant at the Culinary Arts and Music Stage to designate one restaurant as the Taste of Alpharetta’s People’s Choice recipient.

Children attending the Taste of Alpharetta will delight in playing at Wacky World, and on dozens of inflatables, in addition to rock climbing, trains and more in the Fun Zone. The Lion’s Club pavilion will also be featuring educational Reptile Wrangler shows, exhibits and a full farmyard with a pony carousal. Standard festival activities for children including face painting, wacky hair, and balloon art will also be available.

Park and ride shuttle options will be available at Alpharetta City Hall (on South Main Street), Publix Super Market (on Old Milton Parkway at Haynes Bridge), and Milton Center (the old Milton High School at Milton Avenue)

Park and walk options are available at the Wills Park Equestrian Center (on Wills Road) and the Alpharetta Community Center (on Roswell Street).

Directions: from GA 400 south, exit at Old Milton Parkway. Turn right off exit onto Old Milton Parkway. Take Old Milton Parkway straight into downtown Alpharetta, and then turn left on Main Street that is Alpharetta Highway SR9. Then turn right on Roswell Street for one block to partially closed intersection at Old Milton Parkway; event entrance is on the left.
